session outline

The Calculus BC session will cover topics on the AP* Calculus BC syllabus with emphasis on the BC only topics. Strategies for presenting the material for student understanding will be modeled and discussed. I will share teaching techniques as well as go over the content. The sharing of projects that develop an understanding of a concept is also part of the plan for the week. Sample problems will be given and solved together to develop an understanding of the material and the College Board* philosophy.

If you have a graphing calculator, please bring it with you. I normally use a TI-84.

I will bring old AP* exams and their rubrics for you. I will ask publishers for textbooks so you can peruse them. We will discuss what is important if you are selecting a textbook.

Time will be allowed for the sharing of ideas. So, if you have anything that has worked well for you, please bring it along to share with the other participants. If you have any questions before we get together, please feel free to contact me. The schedule is tentative and will be adjusted to the participants.

Participants will become familiar with the AP scoring rubrics including the 2010 rubric.
