Spanish Literature

Angélica M. Jiménez has taught Spanish at Redwood High School since 1984, and is currently teaching “Spanish 1 for Spanish Speakers” and AP Spanish Literature. She has been an adjunct Spanish instructor at College of the Sequoias and in 2004 participated in the UC Consortium’s project “Spanish Literature for Spanish Speakers”. She also currently serves as advisor for Redwood's "Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica," as well as a BTSA Support Provider for new teachers in the Visalia Unified School District.

She received her BA in Chicano Studies from UCLA in 1981; teaching credential from UCLA in 1982; upper division course work from Fresno Pacific University and CSU Fresno in “Engagement Strategies”, “Literacy in Action” and “Cohesive Writing.”

Angélica has also served as AP Spanish Reader for AP Spanish Literature since 2005, a College Board Workshop Consultant in AP Spanish Literature since 2007, and has been an annual participant in the College Board’s Professional Development Mentor/Mentee Initiative since 2008. She has served as College Board Consultant Trainer with new materials that will reflect the 2012-13 AP Spanish Literature course, August 2011; and as a Mentor for the College Board's consultant pool. Angelica is a presenter of the College Board's online workshop "AP Spanish Literature and Culture: Overview of the Course" (February 7, 2012); and reviewer for the April 2012 College Board consultant training materials. She is a member of the “AP Spanish Literature Test Development Committee, 2010-11 and is a current collaborator with the College Board’s office of Professional Development for the “Redesign of the AP Spanish Literature Workshops."

She lives in the foothills near Lindsay, CA with her cowboy husband. They have a 27-year-old son who is serving his seventh year in the US Navy, and a 21-year-old daughter that currently works in retail. They have three grandchildren: a 4-year-old granddaughter and 3-year old twin grandsons.
